Making an Offer

Preparing the Offer

When you view a home on the market that you really want, our job, as your real estate team, is to make sure you get that home at a price that works for you.

The first step is preparing the written offer that we present to the seller that states the price you’re offering as well as any conditions. The first price we go in with is critical. It should reflect the true market value of the property so the seller takes your offer seriously. Of course, you don’t want to go in too high and risk overpaying for the home and that’s where our real estate expertise comes in.

How the Process Works

When you’re ready to make an offer on a home, here’s what typically happens:

We’ll recommend a starting price that has the best chance of being accepted by the seller, but without over-paying for the home.

Sellers prefer offers that have no conditions, but we will recommend some conditions, such as passing a professional home inspection, or a financing contingency if you are financing the purchase.

If the offer isn’t accepted or if the seller makes a counteroffer (which is very common), we’ll negotiate with the seller’s agent on your behalf to make a deal that works for you.

Once the seller agrees to a deal, we’ll lead you through the process of meeting the terms and conditions of your contract. At the end of this process, the home is yours. Congratulations!
